Three years ago, we launched a pilot project called Advice in Clinical Oncology (www.jamesfleck.com), based on a Personalized Digital Health File (PDHF). The project was supported by a cognitive approach (tutorial), providing the patient with a better understanding of how doctors think and organize medical data. The concept was developed to empower the patient, as the PDHF would belong to the patient and would be universally accessed using a non-transferable username and password.
This craft project was surprisingly well received by patients and families!
There were no major problems and a high rate of patient satisfaction.
The main drawback was the time required to go through the process, as our first designed PDHF was too long, sometimes repetitive, and we didn't have access to current technology features that make it easy to upload images, videos and reports.
We further simplified the electronic file by working with a new version very close to what is being proposed now.
Now, the average time required to complete the new electronic file (e-PHR) is no longer than 30 minutes.
Global use of an e-PHR is necessary but also very controversial.
Only collective intelligence and technological advances can make this initiative a reality.
In this website we are proposing a collaborative effort. Bringing together the vision of all stakeholders, we aim to create a large volume of data that can generate collective intelligence.
